Dharamshala — According to reports from the United Kingdom, the Royal Court theatre based in London has pulled a play about Tibet after the British Council reportedly advised that the timing would coincide with political meetings in China.
Dharamshala — “Tibetan democracy is an exile administration. In an exile administration, the emphasis is usually on unity, a single leader and a single voice. It is understandable because the purpose is to return. Unity is paramount in such exile set-ups. Once it is a democracy, there is a contradiction because in a democracy, instead of unity, you have to support diversity. Instead of a single leader, there are oppositions. Instead of a single voice, you must have freedom of speech. Hence it is very unique and challenging,” said Tibetan President Dr Lobsang Sangay at Emory University on April 9, 2018.
Dharamshala — "Since the second cycle of the Universal Periodic Review UPR of China in 2013, the human rights situation in the Tibetan areas of China has significantly worsened. This is true for both civil and political rights as well as for economic, social, and cultural rights of the Tibetan people," says a joint report submitted to the United Nations as part of the Universal Periodic Review of China.
Dharamshala, India — Amid systematic, widespread and gross human rights violations, over six decades in Tibet, the situation in the region has degenerated into a climate of fear, while 'China’s development goals are systematically violating the economic, social and cultural rights' of the people of Tibet, a new report to United Nations has found.
Dharamshala, India — I do not know for how long the Tibetan struggle will go on. However, the struggle will remain alive as long as the spirit of Tibetans remains,” the spiritual leader of Tibet, His Holiness The Dalai Lama said at the “Thank You India” programme, held at the main Temple in Dharamshala, India, on Saturday to mark his arrival in India, exactly 60 years ago.
