Dharamshala: During the Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama's 3 day visit in Denmark, he taught Buddhism based on Nagarjuna's Commentary on Bodhicitta (Jangchub Semdrel) and Karmalashila's The Middle Stages of Meditation (Gomrim Barpa), told the audience of 3,600 people who had come to hear his teachings that he does not believe in conversion and therefore never tries to convert anyone to the Buddhist faith. Hundreds of supporters bid farewell to His Holiness the Dalai Lama as he left Copenhagen for Iceland on Sunday.  "As usual my visit to Denmark and to other countries is mainly spiritual and educational, not political," he told the AFP.

Copenhagen: His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived here Friday afternoon and straight away proceeded in a motorcade, escorted by five Danish police motorcyclists, to first meet Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and later Foreign Minister Per Stig Møller.

Miami: The Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan leader-in-exile, has offered to donate $100,000 to help save the Department of Religious Studies at Florida International University, which is slated to close as part of $27 million in budget cuts.

Tokyo: Exiled Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama's envoy, Mr. Kelsang Gyaltsen, spoke during a news conference at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan in Tokyo, Japan today. He said that Tibet is ready to resume peace talks with China. The speech addressed to foreign correspondents in the Japanese capital came more than seven months after negotiations were stalled between the two sides.

Beijing: Speaker of the US House Representative, Nancy Pelosi and her congressional delegation met yesterday with the three top communist leaders of the Chinese government: president Hu Jintao, premier Wen Jiabao, and Wu Bangguo, the chairman of the National People's Congress in Beijing, the Chinese capital.

Dharamshala: Just two years after Chinese students died in the bloody massacre at Tienanmen Square, speaker Nancy Pelosi unfurled a banner in Tiananmen that read, "To those who died for democracy in China", now a week before the 20th anniversary of the uprising, Pelosi is returning to China.   The purpose of her visit is to address the environment and global warming, but the anniversary of the students democracy movement, and the speaker’s support of Tibet may influence the agenda.

Taipei: The weather broadcaster predicted thunderstorms in the afternoon. But this did not dismay hoards of Taiwanese from all corners of the country from participating in the procession in Taipei today. Following her briefing, Ms. Tsai, the Chairwoman of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), led the rally along the main street in Taipei. Over 600,000 Taiwanese partook in the demonstration. The memory of the blood shed in the Taiwanese fight for freedom is ever-present. Taiwan has never been, and will never be, a part of China.
