Tibetan leaders send condolences on US Congressman Gilman’s demise

Dharamshala — Tibetan prime minister and Parliament Deputy Speaker condoled the demise of US Congressman Benjamin Gilman. Congressman Benjamin Gilman, a friend of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and a long-time supporter of Tibet and Tibetan people. Mr Gilman, 94, passed away in Wappingers Falls, N.Y, US, on December 17, 2016.

Tibetan leader awards historic Geshema degree to twenty nuns

Mundgod — For the first time in the history of Tibetan Buddhism, twenty Tibetan nuns have been awarded the Geshema degree, the highest academic title in Tibetan Buddhism. The degree was conferred yesterday morning by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at a ceremony to honor the nun's achievments at Drepung Monastery in Mundgod, South India.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama remains hopeful about returning Tibet

Mundgod — The spiritual leader of Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has expressed the hope that he will be able to return to his homeland, from where he fled into exile more than half a century ago.

Tibet was occupied in 1949 and China's claims against reality: Sikyong

Dharamshala — Tibet was illegally occupied by China in 1949 and China's claims are out of touch with reality, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) Thursday said, adding that 'they are soon releasing a book titled 'Tibet is not a part of China but the Middle Way remains a Viable Solution.'
