Dharamshala: The week-long Advance Training on Prevention of HIV/AIDS organized by Dharamshala based NGO; CHOICE- HIV/AIDS Initiatives and funded by St Stephen's AIDS Trust (SSAT), London concluded successfully in Delhi recently. The Training was supported and facilitated by Dept of Health, CTA, Dharamshala and coordinated by SAHARA Center for Residential Care & Rehabilitation, Delhi. Over 12 trainees including doctors, nurses & HIV activists etc from 8 different regions took part in the training that commenced from 1st of November 2010 and concluded on 8th November 2010 in Delhi.

Dharamshala: The Brahmaputra River, or the Yarlung Tsangpo as it is known in Tibet, is the latest target of China's hydroelectric plans. The planned dam is set to be the largest in the world, greater than the Three Gorges Dam in China, and will be part of a 540 megawatts (MW) power generation project due for completion by December 2015. According to several media reports there are 28 other dams either planned or currently construction along the Yarlung Tsangpo, though China are yet to confirm these.

Dharamshala: Over 4,600 events were held in more than 177 countries today marking the International Day of Climate Action sponsored by the US-based NGO 350.org, one of which took place at the Tibetan Children's Village (TCV) in McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala. The event coincided with TCV's 49th anniversary, and was co-sponsored by the Environmental and Development Desk (EED) of the Department of International Relations and the Clean Upper Dharamsala Project (CUDP) of the Tibetan Settlement Office and Tesi Environmental Awareness Movement. It consisted of a panel discussion, photo exhibition, film screening, and signature campaign.

Taipei: Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Catholic Cardinal Shan Kuo-Hsi took part in a series of religious talks titled "A Dialogue Between Man and Nature" on Wednesday morning, in Kaohsiung city, southern Taiwan. Prior to the proceedings, both parties conducted prayers for victims of the recent typhoon. Cardinal Shan emphasized the necessity of advance government preparation for natural disasters and the reduction of carbon emission. His Holiness the Dalai Lama stressed the need for expert opinions and viable solutions.
